New AT&T Retiree Healthcare Option

It has come to our attention that beginning in 2021, AT&T Retirees will have a new option in the realm of retiree health care coverage. For the past five years, AT&T retirees who were Medicare eligible have enrolled in health care through the Aon Retiree Health Exchange, but soon these folks will have a new option in lieu of using the Exchange.
In 2021, Medicare eligible retirees will have the option to enroll in a AT&T sponsored group Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug plan. This MAPD plan should cover both medical and prescription drug benefits in one plan, and will be offered directly by AT&T, not the Exchange. While plan details and information regarding this plan are sparse at the moment, eligible participants should expect to receive these details by the 4th quarter of 2020.
This is a significant development for retirees, as AT&T retiree healthcare has been offered through the Exchange since 2015. Some good news to go along with this - dental and vision plans will continue to be offered in 2021 through the Exchange.
As more information becomes available regarding this MAPD plan, we will be discussing it more here on our blog, so stay tuned!
